Introduction

smartLibrary introduces you the Career development feature which is in beta.

By using the beta version, you can help smartLibrary test its performance improvements, before we release the full set of functionalities.

So that employees of your company can view available phases of career development and choose a specific path to undergo, these development paths and journeys should be designed, first, in smartLibrary in the Development area.

To create a specific set of development paths and journeys, you can use a specific development library.

Create library

Once you realize that you need to create specific development paths and journeys, you can create and further use a development library. It helps you create surface vertical and lateral moves, add job connections, and build personalized career growth journeys.

Access the Development area by clicking Development on the navigation pane.

On the Career development page that opens, start by selecting a development library from the Development library drop-down list or creating a new library.

To create a new library, follow the steps listed below:

On the menu bar, click Library settings, and then click New library.
On the New library pane, you can do the following:
- Add a development library name.
  Here you can enter e descriptive name for the development library you are creating.
- Connect job libraries.
  Here you can define one or multiple job libraries to connect them to the development library you are creating.
Once you are done, click Create library.

Edit library

Now that you have created a library, you can edit it any time you need. To edit a development library, follow the steps listed below:

On the Career development page, select the library you want to edit from the Development library drop-down list.
On the menu bar, click Library settings, and then click Edit library.
On the Edit library pane, you can do the following changes:
- Edit the development library name.
- Connect one or multiple job libraries if you did not do it while creating the library. Otherwise, you can add more libraries here to connect as well as remove the ones you have previously connected if they are not needed anymore.
Now that you are done with all your changes, click Update library.

Delete library

To delete a job library, follow the steps listed below:

On the Career development page, select the library you want to delete from the Development library drop-down list.
On the menu bar, click Library settings, and then click Delete library.
In the Delete library dialog that appears, enter a name of the library you are deleting, and then click Delete library.
